Unicorn Diaries

I can’t keep pretending things are adequate
Drew a Glasgow smile, people think it’s immaculate
How does darkness provoke sincere amusement?

Pastel balloons crowd my nanoscopic space
Minimal makeup can’t camouflage my face
I guess it’s toxic to emote contradiction
Because mantras are universal inducements
Just live your golden life in repetition
A beautiful bouquet of foxglove and roses

This is just for you
Meant for the shadows and the dust
This is just for you
My pink glitter pen
Keeps acting up again
Skeptical to finish the sentence, but I must
Or else you’ll only see starless nights
Of ebony and blue, black diamonds aren’t true love
So this is just for you, another discarded entry
In the encyclopedia of melancholia: my unicorn diaries

I can’t keep walking streets with chalk sketches
Drawn in saturated colors, their interpretation of heaven
How can stained glass aglow still break?

Pastel balloons crowd my nanoscopic space
Minimal makeup can’t camouflage my face
I guess it’s toxic to be a mithridatic participant
Because mantras tell you life’s a death by chocolate cake
Just keep looking golden in every predicament
A beautiful bouquet of nightshade and orchids

This is just for you
Meant for the shadows and the dust
This is just for you
My scented stickers
Smooth out the paper
Skeptical to seal it in the envelope, but I must
Or else you’ll only see starless nights
Of ebony and blue, black diamonds aren’t true love
So this is just for you, another discarded entry
In the encyclopedia of melancholia: my unicorn diaries

I am alone
My handy-dandy conscience retorts:
“You’re not hungry, you’re not poor”
I am alone
And my Glasgow smile is fading
Double rainbows are jading
I am alone and waiting

This is just for you
Meant for the shadows and the dust
This is just for you
My weak hands
Exhausted from demand
Skeptical to mail it to your address, but I must
Or else you’ll only see starless nights
Of ebony and blue, black diamonds aren’t true love
So this is just for you, another discarded entry
In the encyclopedia of melancholia: my unicorn diaries
