Colors
we had plasticky tiaras
translucent with glitter in them
they were swan lake themed
i wanted pink
until you had purple
but purple and pink we stayed
we rolled in clover
jumped between hay bales
picked blackberries from bushes
far out in the fields
all while wearing those crowns
we started school
i was left and you were right
i was pink and you were purple
where you went
i followed
up the slide
down the hill
we were side by side on the swings
i forget when that changed
when pink and purple
became pink and red
purple and green
i remember the upset
there was no green crown before
why was there one now
if we can add crowns
why green
why not red
it was never your fault
green is a nice color
it signifies new growth
new life
you have a child now
a healthy baby girl
you have a home
a partner
a life
you've found your pink
congratulations
i'm finding my purple
i think
i hope it's your shade
