Donald Pepka

Nebula

May
ash and dust,
alone within
the infinite dark,
coalesce into flame,
and may reborn light soar
across empty eons

until a single beam burns
an opening in the clouded night sky
to pierce your handprint-dusted window
and anchor your eyes to the stars.

Donald Pepka is a fourth-year student at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He is pursuing degrees in Public Policy Studies and Mathematics. His poetry has appeared in The Archive. He enjoys wearing a variety of flannels and learning about space.
