All He Knows

The expectations are on the floor, yet
he will never be able to reach them.

And if he is able to reach one thing, it is
the pinnacle of disappointment.

And when he crawls up that hill––not a mountain
because he would never put in that much effort for you––
at the top he will find his affinity for consistent inconsistency.

And if he is always inconsistent––because
it is all he knows––that will remind you
that you deserve better.
